BC Energy Step Code - Module 7 - Building Envelope Quality Assurance and Quality Control
2 Hours (2 CPD)

This 2-hour online course will go through the following topics and provide insights to the BC residential builders and professionals:

•    Building Envelopes in High-Performance Housing
•    How to plan the correct sequencing of typical detail installations, with a focal point towards air barrier and insulation, whilst considering and dealing with various other factors that could become a problem.
•    Identify the ways to recognize building enclosure QA/QC items found from construction documents, and come up with ways to deal with them
•    Walk through for both detached and attached homes, the scheduling, preparing, and testing process for air-tightness during the mid-construction and for final compliance.
•    Go over ways to gauge the appropriateness of qualitative and quantitative testing techniques for constructing BCESC homes, going over some challenges that could be presented.
•    Explore ways to utilize checklists to regulate QA/QC of key enclose items as per the BCESC compliance steps from design to completion, and doing so in a way to avoid both costly errors and the need for repairs.
•    How to communicate well in order to trade the key QA/QC items related to BCESC compliance, and talk about some potential conflicts and bias coming from team members, giving some ways to address them.
•    How to recognize enticing qualifications and responsibilities for an onsite QA/QC supervisor, as to address all parts of BCESC compliance.
•    The best ways to appoint appropriate personnel, tools, and techniques to repair incomplete enclosure items and enhance building airtightness.
•    How to translate key quality assurance and quality control language which has to do with BCESC compliance into contract agreements with designers and trades and go over the addition of performance-based contractual obligations.
